The first of 2 EP’s to be released by Rachel Challis in 2013, Upside Down wears its pop influences on its sleeve. From the chiming guitars and misty-eyed harmonies of the title track, to the scuzzy gospel stomp of ‘Lifebelt’ and beyond, the EP is adrift on the bright scents and sounds of summer. ‘Upside Down’ is a sugar rush, the soundtrack to whirlwind romance and breathless emotion.

With songs honed through years of live performance, the EP boasts wall-to-wall drive-time melodies, while retaining its own off-kilter, idiosyncratic style. Fitting perfectly into the spectrum of transatlantic indie-pop between Neko Case and Charlotte Hatherley, it’s a colourful, characterful slice of sunshine that will stick in your head and hold fast.
